New 'Real World' article in the Denver Post.

Friday, June 23, 2006

A couple of cast members are on Myspace:

Davis
Tyrie (incredibly amusing- loves the 8 almost identical pics, and the NASTY half-naked chicks all over his friends list!)

Just a quick note, not a sighting or anything, but... I've been reading a history of Denver. And I find it ironic that the Real World house is on the site of a former brothel. That's all.

Okay, here's the most recent spy report recieved here at RW Denver Blog HQ. 10-4 good buddies.

T.R. caught the cast dining at a bar near their house (LoDo's? Uptown Tavern?), then later hung out with them at Club Rise. Here are his descriptions of the castmates he met:

Alex- white guy, brunette, kinda skater/surfer/scruffy look but was wearing a button up shirt and jeans. Attending ASU, decent looking. Was by far the most down to earth and nicest of the bunch. The others were acting like celebrities.

Brooke- tall brunette girl, freakishly thin but had a ghetto booty and big breasts. Kinda slutty acting. Has a BEAUTIFUL accent. Attending school in Irvine or somewhere in California but is from Tennessee.

Ty- short for Tyrene, BIG black guy, wasn't nice to be so I didn't get any info.

And the short black guy (TJ?) who wasn't nice at all but is from California.

T.R. also added that the cast is working for Outward Bound, leading expeditions into the mountains. He also says many cast members are getting night jobs to help make ends meet- such as Davis' (?) job at JR's, and Alex may be working at Rise.

And since it's been posted everywhere else, just for info's sake, here are the other cast members (allegedly):

Jeremy, Colie/Nicole.

I will repost the most current spy report shortly. I'm doing some work on it ;)

But for now.. here's the video I promised. This is from T.R., and it is apparently the cast eating. Yum.

And today's Rocky Mountain News/Penny Parker installment:

MORE REAL: We hear that the Real World Denver cast will film footage at the Sleeper house, the Genesee clamshell house owned by John Huggins, head of economic development at the mayor's office. The landmark building, which Huggins sold this week, is named for its starring role in the 1973 Woody Allen comedy Sleeper.

On a personal note... lots of other RW Denver websites are popping up all over the place. I hope that you will continue to visit my site. I'm just a girl who loves Denver and has loved the Real World since I was 12 years old. I'm not a big corporate-owned site, and I've never been called a stalker. Just so you know! :)

Real Worlder sighting: Saw a few of the kids sitting in one of the outside-facing booths at Tryst (15th & Larimer) tonight around 8:30pm. Could only describe the guy in the center... tall, dark hair, decently hot.

Semi-related: Caroline Kepcher (Donald's Trump's right-hand woman on the Apprentice) is in town for a book signing, and staying at my hotel. As is Linda Ronstadt, but we care more about Caroline.

Unrelated: It's over 100 degrees here today, and my alley smells like pee.

Two things for you today. Enjoy!

An email I recieved:

i live at premier lofts (22nd and market) and when i was walking home from work tonight i almost got run over by a bunch of real world bitches running from a parked mini-van to the front door of the house. one was screaming at the top of her lungs and she looked wet ... dark hair, running masscara ... kinda slutty, but that's just my opinion. they looked like they had been at the pool or something. the dark haired girl was laughing in between her rather obnoxious screams, so i'm sure she's loving all the attention from the cameras and the neighbors stopped on the street.

A trip to Waterworld, or the waterpark at Elitch's maybe? Thanks Ryan!

From Penny Parker of the Rocky Mountain News:

I told you in April that a Denver cast member of MTV's
Real World would be working as an assistant bartender at JR's, the hot and happenin' gay bar on 17th Avenue.

Well, Jeremy (his show name, not his real one) will soon don an apron to work four nights a week at JR's. After the Denver denizens in the house at 1920 Market St. finish their day jobs, Jeremy will schlep over to JR's to work the night shift.

"I told them they could film any night here except Thursdays," said bar owner Larry McDonald. "It's half-price night, and we're too busy."

When McDonald signed the contract with MTV, he agreed to let the camera, lighting, sound and security crews have full access to his gin joint.

"The security guys are there for the crew; they're not liable for anything that the cast members do," McDonald said.

And after a tab tussle at another local watering hole, where Real World members tried to run out on the check, McDonald says they've been told they must pay their bar bill and tip accordingly.

"When they come into the bar, they don't drink for free," McDonald said. "They also don't call us and tell us when they're coming in."

JR's patrons will have to sign a release if they want to have their mugs shot for the show.

"If you don't sign the release, they can't put your face on TV," McDonald said.

"The last thing some people want is to be outed on TV."

Despite the hassle of having his bar crammed with cameras, McDonald eagerly agreed to expose his place to the national publicity. "First of all, it will show on TV that we're not a bunch of weird gays. And it will give another light to gay society if they choose to film in the bar."

Okay, I go to JR's on ocassion anyway, but now I really need to get my ass over there!

First things first. According to Bill Husted of the Denver Post:

"Real World" cast is down to play midnight kickball against the Denver Kickball Coalition Wednesday at Sonny Lawson Park at 2300 Welton St.

This park is pretty cool and there's lots of on-street parking around it.

Secondly (is that a word?), I recieved an email from someone saying their college roommate is one of the gay cast members- a blonde kid named Davis. Go say 'hi' to him at the kickball game! (Anyone wanna go gawk with me?)

Last, I'm trying to get to JR's soon to check out the validity of a cast member working there as a barback (perhaps it's Davis?). I'll keep you posted, as always! Thanks for all the emails, you guys are awesome :)

Another little Denver spy sent me an interesting email today:

Saw your blog and i'd like to report a hilarious real world siting. my brother and i were at Gov's Park bar when the whole cast walked in with the cameras. they took over a couch area and started taking shots. they already looked pretty drunk. I struck up a conversation with one of the girls named Alexis who said she was from california. They told us they were going to Hemmingway's and we met them there. We were sitting there talking with Alexis and drinking beers when another cast member named jeff, a sort of tattooed punkish guy, came over and said he needed to talk to her. They walked into a corner and the cameras followed. Then they got into a huge arguement and he called her a slut and she stormed off! apparently there's already some kind of romance tension brewing in the house. Some producer made me sign a release waiver so hopefully i'll be on the show.

A drunken cast member? A romantic tryst? Drama?? This can't be the Real World! Thanks Tim.

I've been regularly checking out the house, but have yet to see anything too exciting this weekend. For now, check out some RW-Denver links (and thanks to Reality Blurred for the plug!):

It's confirmed... the Denver Real World house is inhabited! Drove by at approximately 12:35pm this afternoon. There were at least 7 crew members outside around the front of the house. 2 of them were filming a sorority-looking brunette chick in the typical 'it's Saturday morning and I'm hungover' outfit. It was all so 'real' that I felt like I was driving through a movie set. The funniest part was the group of middle-aged bike riders stopped across the street watching and pointing. It was kind of odd that she was just standing in front of the house, just... standing. Alone. Don't we all do that? Just stand and stare in the middle of a busy street while TV cameras and boom mic's surround us? Yep, I know I do.

So, I'm still thinking that the rumors that the cast has already moved in are unfounded. There is a Real World Denver group on Myspace where people have reported 'sightings', but I think they may have just seen the crew shooting B-Roll (the pretty stuff you see before commercials, and the filler shots). The Myspace group sends out bulletins stating that the cast will be at a certain place, yada yada, but I'm pretty sure it's a bunch of bullshit. More likely a bunch of lonely kids pretending to be involved with the show.

Anyway, for some real news... I drove by the house yesterday (as I always do), and there is usually a big plastic sheet type covering over what used to be the patio area for the old B-52's. Well, yesterday evening it was uncovered to reveal a nice little wooden deck area with blue lounge chairs, umbrellas, and the ubiquitous hot-tub. Not roof-top as I expected. What's interesting about this location is that pretty much anyone sitting on this deck is within spitting distance of all the hooligans wandering along Market Street. Interesting choice.

That's all for now! I'll keep you posted.
